TAYY AL-MAKÂN OF THE SOUL
TAYY AL-MAKÂN OF THE SOUL
Tayy al-makân of the soul is the easiest and most common form of tayy al-makân. This kind of tayy al-makân is already experienced by everyone, but they are not aware of it.
All dreams are experienced by the soul. A person start dreaming when the soul leaves the physical body. The electron revolution rate of the soul is half that of the physical body. When a person reaches deep sleep, his electron revolution rate of the physical body drops while his electron revolution rate of the soul increases. When the two reach equilibrium, the soul leaves the physical body.
The soul takes over your thought system with it and can go wherever it wants, as fast as it wants. Every night, you go somewhere in your dreams. If Allah the Almighty wills, He lets you remember your dreams; at other times, He does not. He makes you forget things in this world while passing to the realm of dream and He makes you forget things happen in dreams while passing from there to here. But there are also things that He does not make you forget. All dreams are a type of tayy al-makân but people are unaware of this.
What matters in tayy al-makân is being conscious of it. Whenever we become aware, what we experience is no longer a dream; it is tayy al-makân.
Those who experience tayy al-makân are those who can realize this separation even while awake. When a person enters the state of tayy al-makân while awake, the moment the soul leaves the body, the physical body immediately falls asleep. The intellect then no longer governs the physical body, but the soul.
Allah Almighty has granted His friends the ability of controlled tayy al-makân. Indeed, a saint of Allah, Ibrahim Hakkı of Erzurum, was one who lived in this manner. Through the tayy al-makân of the soul, he traveled within the cosmos, journeyed to many realms, and explored them. He expressed this in his works with the words: "We know space better than the streets of Tillo (a village within city of Erzurum)."
Everyone who wishes to reach Allah and fulfills their submission (to a murshid) can experience such blessings. For this, one must be patient, increase the practice of dhikr day by day, and observe Allah’s commands and prohibitions.
At times, people experience similar phenomena through dark (zulmânî) paths. The simplest form of tayy al-makân is the tay al-makân of the soul. This is the furthest that those on dark paths can reach. They call it astral travel. However, those people can never experience it with inner peace. They are drawn into deeper darkness day by day under the influence of Satan. After this experience, they feel intense pressure (as if it were being hammered) in the front of their heads and a deep distress. Satan takes them under his influence and hammers their brains. Followers of the dark path often say when speaking about astral travel: "It is entirely possible for Satan to hammer your head, so protect yourselves." Yet despite such precautions, the brains of thousands are continually hammered in this way. If you imagine a circle about 20 cm in diameter at the very top of your head, that area becomes numb. A person clearly feels Satan’s influence there. It is as if part of their ability to think has deteriorated; they feel a pressure in that region, and a zone of Satan’s influence is formed. For this reason, many people go through a prolonged period of unrest
On the path of Allah, all things are under His control; therefore, no one undergoes such a state of depression on account of experiencing tayy al-makân.
