THREE TYPES OF REPENTANCE IN HOLY BOOKS

DR. ABDULCABBAR BORAN

Repentance means turning away from the sins we have committed. It is a promise made to God by a person to refrain from committing that sin again.

There are three types of repentance in the Holy Books.

1. Self-Made Repentance

2. Repentance in Front of a Spiritual Guide

3. Repentance in front of God (irreversible)

SELF-MADE REPENTANCE

People always commit sins and then implore God Almighty: “O Lord! Please forgive me for this sin!” God is indeed forgiving.

“The Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against him." DANIEL 9:9-HOLY BIBLE

This verse reminds us of the powerful message of forgiveness that God is merciful toward us and loves us even when we have acted out against Him.

“Say: ‘O My servants who have exceeded the limits against yourselves! Do not despair of the mercy of God. Indeed, God forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.’” (AZ-ZUMAR 39:53 HOLY QURAN)

“Do not let the devil deceive you into feeling secure in Our mercy.” "O Lord! Forgive me."

Here, our Lord is conveying that if everyone were guaranteed forgiveness from God whenever they sought it, there would be no sin left uncommitted in the world. People would commit sins and then say, "O Lord! Forgive me." It is not that simple.

Thus, the acceptance of repentance by God depends on certain conditions…

If there is remorse, it means there is a safeguard against the recommitment of the sin.

A person must have the intention and a firm decision not to commit the same sin again.

A person may be determined, but if their willpower is weak, they may commit the sin again. However, if strong willpower comes into play, it creates a strong basis for not repeating that sin.

With the presence of these qualities, we expect that, when this believer turns to God, there is a strong likelihood that their sins will be forgiven. However, is it possible to speak of an event in which our Lord guarantees the forgiveness of all sins?

There is a point in your life where, if you reach it, God will forgive all your sins. Is such a thing possible? Yes, it is possible. The Holy Books contains solutions to all your problems. God Almighty guarantees that He will cover not just some of your sins, but all of them. That is the point you wished to reach God.
