The virtue of the spirit: GENEROSITY

"The upper hand is better than the lower hand” (i.e., he who gives in charity is better than him who takes it) (Noble Hadith Prophet Muhammad (PBUH))

My dear brothers, religion is, in a single word, charity; it is generosity. Everything we possess is for God Almighty. However, being for God means living for others, serving other.Whoever gives money to someone without expecting it back is engaging in a loan given to God, the best of all loans. Alms, good deeds, and charity are also considered loan given for God

God Almighty says, "Whoever is kind to the poor lends to God and He will repay it”. (Proverbs 19:17-Holy Bible) .

Helping those in need is a good deed that honors God, and that God will repay those who are generous in spiritual blessings. “It is such a loan that you will give and forget.” The day you can forget it is the day it is complete. Then, everything will bring you only ease and comfort. Moreover, beyond that, the great blessings of Lord Almighty will come onto you.

“Whoever gives a good loan for God’s sake, it will be repaid to him many times over, and he will have a generous reward.” (Al-Hadid 11- Holy Quran)

“Each one should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not out of regret or compulsion. For God loves a cheerful giver.” (2. Corinthians 9:7-Holy Bible)

A Parable:

THE WIDOW'S OFFERING

Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents. Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said,

“Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.” (Mark 12: 41-44-Holy Bible)

Our Lord’s treasures are infinite, and He loves to give. As long as you are worthy, the more you compete in good deeds, the more valuable you become.

When you intend, from the heart. to give something to someone the devil whispers to you: “How can you give to others when you have your wife and children to provide for?

What you need to do here is to give the devil a good kick and shock him by responding to others with love and by fulfilling what God has commanded in the best possible manner. Then, you will be among the victorious.
