According to the Holy Qur'an, What is the Entrustment that Must be Fulfilled?
When we look at the Holy Qur’an, first of all we see that the spirit has been entrusted to us by Allah Almighty.
Al-Ahzab-72 Surely We did offer the Trust (the Spirit) to the heavens and the earth and the mountains but they (all) declined to bear it, and feared from it and human undertook it. Surely it (the soul) is very tyrant, very ignorant.
Man is the only being who carries a trust from Allah Almighty, the spirit of Allah. Neither the angels nor the jinn have this trust, and it exists in no other creature. As a result of the promise made to Allah from our spirit in pre-eternity that it would return back to Allah in this worldly life, Allah demands His trust back. Allah Almighty states in the 27th verse of Surah Al-Anfal as follows:
Al-Anfal-27 O you âmenû ones (believers who wished to reach Allah)! Do not betray Allah and His Messenger, so you would have knowingly betrayed your trusts too.
Not delivering the trust to its Owner in this worldly life is a betrayal of the trust, a failure to fulfill the trust, and as mentioned in the Noble Hadith, whoever does not fulfill the trust (not deliver the spirit to Allah before death) has no faith.
