People Are Divided into Two Groups According to How They Evaluate Events.
The Chosen Ones and the Unchosen Ones
At the 2nd step, we mentioned that people are divided into two groups: the chosen ones and the unchosen ones. To understand the content of this step, it is necessary to examine these two groups in light of the Qur’an verses and hadiths.
Who Are the Chosen Ones?
Whoever harbors goodness in their hearts, has no desire or effort to harm others, and does not spread temptation (fitnah) on earth (by preventing people from the path of Allah), despite being in darkness (misguidance) at the beginning, is among those chosen by Allah. Allah Almighty says regarding this matter:
Ash-Shura-13: In the religion, what He (Allah) had enjoined upon Noah (the Law (the Shari’a)), He had enjoined, by saying: ”Maintain the Religion and in it (in religion, in faith) do not divide into groups," upon Abraham and Moses and Jesus, and by revealing to you, made it a “Law (Shari’a) for you too. What you have called them upon for (to wish to reach Allah before death) had been very difficult for the disbelievers (mushriqun). Allah chooses for Himself whom He wills, and he will deliver to Himself (their spirits before death of) those who turns to Allah (yuneeb ones).
After being chosen, a further distinction will emerge among those who are tested through events. Allah Almighty says in this regard:
Al-Insan-3: Surely We have delivered him to a Way (leading to Allah). But either he becomes grateful (he wishes to reach Allah) or ungrateful (disbeliever) (he does not wish to reach Allah before death).
Our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) says in his noble hadith:
"Every child is born with a true faith of Islam and his parents convert him to Judaism or Christianity or Magianism." (S: Bukhari, Funerals 92; Abu Dawud, Sunnah 17; Tirmidhi, Qadar 5.)
For people, to be chosen by Allah Almighty alone, will not suffice. Among those who are chosen, only those who evaluate events correctly will be able to reach the 3rd step.
Allah Almighty states the following in this regard:
Al-Baqarah-156 who, when a misfortune befalls them, say: “Surely we are for Allah (We are created to return our spirits and surender to Allah) and to Him we shall surely return”.
Allah Almighty is infinitely merciful toward His servant. He patiently waits for His most beloved creation to wish to deliver his spirit to Allah before death. And even if the servant is unaware, He continually sends him assistance in this direction.
In every era, those among Allah’s chosen ones who actually wish to reach Him make up less than 5% of humanity. Yet, hidayah (guidance) is the entirety of the religion. Without guidance, there is no true religious life. And if the religion is not lived, no one can attain true happiness or peace.
Without hidayah (guidance), there is no religious life. Without the practice of religion, no one can attain genuine happiness and peace.
