THE PRAYER OF NEED (HAJÂT PRAYER)

Anyone who has any need from Allah or wants to reach their religious guide performs the special prayer for need. This prayer is performed on the night connecting Thursday to Friday or on one of the nights of the Islamic holy days. If this is not possible, it can be performed on any night.

Full ablution (ghusl) is performed first. After intending to perform the special prayer of need (hajât prayer), the following verses are recited:

1st Rakaat: Subhanaka + Al-Fatiha + 3 Ayat Al-Kursi 2nd Rakaat: Al-Fatiha + Al-Ikhlas + Al-Falaq + An-Nas Sitting: Al-Tahiyyatu 3rd Rakaat: Al-Fatiha + Al-Ikhlas + Al-Falaq + An-Nas 4th Rakaat: Al-Fatiha + Al-Ikhlas + Al-Falaq + An-Nas. Sitting: Al-Tahiyyatu + Allahumma Salli + Allahumma Barik + Rabbana.

After the prayer (salat) is over, the person asks Allah for whatever it is his need, or for his religious guide. It is necessary to lie down without saying anything. The bed should be placed in a way when the person lie down on his right side with the front of the body facing towards the qibla.

After lying down, Al-Ayat al-Kursi is recited three times. From Allah, one asks for the person's need, whether it is outward or inward, or for the religious guide. After this, silent dhikr (dhikr-i khafi) is performed. Since the person lies on their side, the right ear will come to the pillow. The head is gently moved slightly from side to side until it reaches a position in which the heartbeat can be heard easily (due to the pressure in the ear). With every pair of heartbeats, the person silently repeats the name of Allah in their head, saying ‘Al - lah, Al - lah’.

If no dream is seen on the first night that the prayer is performed, nights connecting Thursday to Friday should continue to pray the special prayer of need until the goal is reached. If one wills it can also be performed every night.
